AIMST UNIVERSITY.

Haven't been updating my blog for quite some time already. Sorry guys, i'm still quite busy with assignments and lectures. Nothing much in this post, just some random pictures that i've got while exploring my new campus in Semeling. For those who are still scratching their head over what is AIMST and where is AIMST located, this will be quite an informative post i guess. Heh. Read on.

Introduction
.
AIMST University is registered with the Ministry of Higher Education, Government of Malaysia, as a tertiary educational institute under Sections 38 and 39 of the Private Higher Educational Institutions Act of 1996. It formally began its operations on 30 October 2001, coinciding with its registration with the Department of Private Education under the Ministry of Higher Education.

A sprawling 230 - acre site at the foothills of Gunung Jerai in the historically important Bujang valley in Semeling (Kedah) is the permanent campus of the University. Self-contained and equipped with state-of-the-art teaching and laboratory facilities, the campus with its purpose-built Great Hall and Experimental Theatre, a well-designed Library located in close proximity to the Faculty buildings, well-furnished student and staff residences, a Student Complex replete with facilities such as bank, post office, student clinic, book store, mini-market, etc., an Indoor Sports Hall linked to an Olympic-size swimming pool and spacious outdoor track and field facilities, is ready.

At the present stage of its operations, four faculties have been established, namely, the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Technology, the Faculty of Applied Sciences and the Faculty of Business & Management. The University has also established two other academic centres: the Centre for Matriculation and Foundation Studies (CMFS), and the Centre for General & Extracurricular Studies (CGES). CMFS conducts foundation courses in science, business and IT that lead to direct entry into the relevant degree programmes. CGES is charged with the task of offering compulsory and elective University courses in English and the Humanities for all the undergraduate degree programmes and also plays a pivotal role in the promotion of the University's various outreach programmes.
Imbued with the vision of its founders, AIMST aims to be a premier private sector university in the country and region catering to the needs of local and international students in providing quality technical education at an affordable price. The curricula for most of the degree programmes are drawn from the University of Bristol in Britain.

Most components of the degree programmes include computer training, writing and research in order to prepare students for work and to provide them with the ability to apply technologies to all aspects of their education. Admission to the degree programmes requires the applicant to meet minimally the prescribed grades in the relevant subjects at the matriculation (local or overseas) level or possess other equivalent qualifications acceptable to AIMST University.

The medium of instruction for all courses is English, although the importance of the National Language will be emphasised in all activities of the University. AIMST University will provide language support for students before and during their degree studies to ensure an acceptable level of fluency. Student support services in the areas of counselling, health, career placement, sports, cultural activities, tutoring and individualised assistance to students with special needs, will be adequately provided for and continually upgraded in as much as these comprise an integral part of AIMST University’s mission to develop a vibrant academic, social and cultural campus environment.
